Vertical Tasting of Terre Alte
Terre Alte 1997
Golden straw yellow colour.
Minerally aromas with silicon and tropical fruit bouquet and intensely spicy forest notes. Flavour: rich, fresh, vivaciously spicy, white pepper accompanied by thick and dense structure. - S.C.
Finesse and elegance are the strengths of the 1997. It entered its mineral stage. - A.F.

Terre Alte 1998
Intense golden straw yellow colour enriched by light touches of red.
In the beginning, the wine has difficulty opening up but once it does aromas of evolving exotic fruits and grassy tones express themselves in a precise and intriguing way. The Sauvignon prevails in an intriguing way and with the precise tropical fruit and grassy overtones that all great Sauvignon express. The taste matches the smell with soft and tentative tannins and more aromas than the 1997. There's a small uncertainty interpreting the taste, but the aftertaste of tropical fruits is persistent. - S.C.
It's initially difficult to interpret, but after an hour it evolves in a surprising matter. - A.F.

Terre Alte 1999
Straw yellow with full and intense golden hues.
Aromas: yellow mature fruits dominate with overtones of apple. The contrast between fruit flowers and minerals integrate with great harmony. Complex, articulate, expressive in its powerful flavours, the wine is full, structured and rich tasting with good acidity that finishes with a note of white pepper. Well-balanced and powerful tannins with a mineral aftertaste. The Pinot Bianco is evident. - S.C.
The 1999 is characterized by great structure and complexity. - A.F.

Terre Alte 2000
Intense golden yellow colour.
Aromas: yellow fruit, yellow flowers, a hint of honey, walnut husk and hazelnut, with a minerally afternote. Taste: intensely spicy, well-structured, good tannins. Balanced acidity with spicy aftertaste. - S.C.
The 2000 vintage is difficult to interpret, but other vintages have shown greater aging potential. - A.F.

Terre Alte 2001
We've been waiting for this one after many difficult years. The 2001 represents the fruition of many years of studying the Rosazzo terroir.
Intense golden straw yellow colour shows power and complexity.
Aromas: great complexity, finesse and elegance with fruits and spices. The persistence and elegance are integrated with aromas of star anise, grapefruit and honey. Taste: in the mouth the power, elegance and harmony are clearly evident. Smooth tannins with spice and fruit tastes. The wine has great persistence. - S.C.
Complexity, harmony and power are evident in the 2001 vintage. Twenty years of work and Friulian character brought to the highest international levels. - A.F.

Terre Alte 2002
Intense straw yellow colour with golden hues.
Aromas: balanced in the fresh tropical fruits is the wines's freshness with white pepper notes at the end. Less powerful then the 2001, but nonetheless it shows great intensity, finesse, elegance and persistence.
Taste: both full and fluid as it waits for the aromas, tropical notes evident; freshness, with final notes of white pepper. A great wine that makes itself be drunk! - S.C.
A Terre Alte that rejoices the greatest expression of the vintage. The meticulous selection of grapes paid off. Reminiscent of the 1997. - A.F.

Terre Alte 2003
Golden straw yellow colour. Powerful, sweet, fruity and complex aromas. Yellow and tropical fruit with a hint of citrus fruits and fresh spices. Aromas of grapefruit, blood orange, peach and green herbs.
Taste: powerful, juicy, full and fluid. Horizontal wine that develops itself with great verticalness; fluid acidity. A powerful aromatic finish. - S.C.
Powerful and complex grassy notes leading to fruit. I find a similar trait between the 1991-2001-2003. - A.F.
