Terre Alte 2006 was awarded the Best White Wine of the year in the “Oscars del Vino 2009”, an international prize organized by the Italian Sommelier Association of Rome and Bibenda magazine. For the first time in the 11 years of the award, the jury was open to the public and thousands of votes were cast to decide the finalists. And as they say in the world of the Oscars, “And the winner is… Terre Alte 2006”. On receiving the prize Maurizio Felluga declared, “Since I was a child, I’ve heard my father say ‘wine has gives us the bread on the table’, today I’d like to add that besides the bread on the table, wine has also given us great satisfaction and emotions and this prestigious recognition is testimony to that”. Created in 1981, Terre Alte is considered one of Italy’s most prestigious white wines. The balanced blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes, estate-grown at Rosazzo in the historic Terre Alte vineyards, produces a supremely elegant wine with a profusion of intense fruit and flower aromas. Terre Alte has won numerous prizes and recognitions and is routinely inserted by guides and experts at the peak of the top Italian whites and has even been included by Wine Spectator as a "Top 100 Wine". The "Oscars del Vino 2009", an international wine award which will be televised nationally on June 7th, is recognized as one of the most important of the Italian wine awards. It was created, as the name suggests, to be a spectacular event celebrating wine, wineries and the people who have most honoured the concept of excellence through wine production over the course of the year and is hosted and attended by a variety of national celebrities.
